Wed Oct 7	Go to the class Moodle, find your name - space and write on this Han-Rome prompt.	Decline of the Classical World Check your grade Note: Quiz on 117-137 will be tomorrow... TODAY... Computer-generate a timeline that shows when the era of the Warring States was in relation to the other Chinese dynasties. (So the timeline will have the dynasty names and periods [years], including the Warring States.) Don't spend too much time: worth 5 points. Name: Period: Answer these questions (open book) from the Han-Rome reading: 1. What are the three assumptions Warring State thinkers held about a future world-state? 2. Explain the difference between the theories of Zeno and Epicurus. Be sure to indicate the name of their respective philosophies.

Make a response to the class member whose name is BELOW yours in the Moodle listing of names. If your name is listed first (Ravina and Erica!), take the person at the bottom of the list (So Ravina, take Syed and Erica, take Donald.) BASE YOUR RESPONSE ON HOW WELL THEY FOLLOWED THE PROMPT. GIVE THEM FEEDBACK IN WORDS ON HOW WELL YOU THINK THEY RESPONDED TO THE PROMPT, and give feedback also by a grade, 1-5. 1 (poor) 2 (minimally acceptable) 3 (average) 4 (good) 5 (excellent). Review Cornell note-taking... Take Cornell notes on the response to the prompt which you are grading. This is worth 10 points and is due Friday.

Wed Oct 28		Mongols! Learn all of the world! POP QUIZ next week on these... Redo your timeline? Redo it and get a 20! The Postclassical is covered in Chaps 6-15 in our book. You MUST have all of these: Color. (keyed for a reason) ISLAM MONGOLS Byzantine W. Europe - (Renaissance) America Africa China (Tang, Song, etc.) Moodle. Write a summary of the Mongol Empire in the postclassical and be sure to include its interface/conquest with/of China. Make it about the equivalent of a 1-2 page report. Use paragraphs and good writing form. Do your research before you write. 20 points.

Finish your Moodle Mongol summary Place the results of your groups gathering of similarities and differences on your qroup's Moodle wiki space, and also place each of the 7 similarities-differences pairs on the appropriately numbered wiki (#1-7) being sure to add your group identity by placing it in parentheses after the items you add. Example: (per7, John-joe-Mary) (#2 and #3 worth 25 points per person...) You will be quizzed next week, no notes, on being able to recall several similarities and differences for each of these 7 main groups.

Wed Nov 18		Indian Ocean African test. Indian Ocean assignment. It is your assignment today to become and expert on Indian Ocean trading in the postclassical era. Go to the Medieval map of the Indian Ocean at this site. Use the information there to fill in information for the postclassical period (Medieval) on the "PERSIA" Indian Ocean map. Draw in shipping-trade lines, draw in products traded, where they were made, you can fill in information also in the 6 PERSIA text boxes. EX CREDIT. Take Cornell notes on the 13 minute intro lecture on the Byzantine Empire.

Wed. Dec. 2		END of the POSTCLASSICAL Put in your answers from the take home test here... Study CCOT... Possible prompt for writing tomorrow in class: "Describe and analyze major military changes and continuities in Eurasia from 500 CE to 1450 CE. Include military successes and failures."

Wed. Dec. 9	Strayer Self-Tests	EARLY MODERN An assignment to add to your notebook: Listen to these short lectures before you read Chapter 16. Take Cornell notes on them: The Renaissance The Reformation Register on the Strayer website (link to the left...), and then take the self-test on Chapter 14 until you get 100% and then have the results emailed to Mr. Pahl ( larrypahl@u-46.org ). Due before 12-14-09. (Thus you will either get a 20 or a 0 on this self-test...) Today, work with a partner to create two charts, on which you compare the social, economic, religious and political aspects of these groups: Chart 1. Incas-Aztecs Sugar colonies North American settlers Chart 2. Russian Empire China's Qing dynasty Mughal Empire Ottoman Empire Fit each chart on one page, using most of the page. Computer generate. Use visible border lines to separate the different squares in the chart. Each chart worth 15 points. Due Friday.

Wed. Dec. 16	Don't forget that the Change-Continuity Chart is due the week of January 4... NEXT YEAR!	Early Modern Be sure to get a 100 on the Strayer chapter 15 self-test (by Jan. 4, 2010!). Study thesis formation for both the CCOT essay and the Compare-Contrast essay. The assignment... Don't forget: Extra Credit for exercises that can be used in class to help AP World scholars practice thesis writing...and also for links to sites that do an EXCELLENT job of teaching you about the DBQ APW essay, the CCOT essay or the Compare-Contrast APW essay.
