Mr. Pahl's Song for Darleen
Streamwood High School's 2006 homecoming queen fought an inspirational battle with cancer. Mr. Pahl wrote this song in loving memory of Darleen Felten.

Darleen

 (Chorus:)

        F         G            Em (or C)

When we go to reunions in Streamwood

           Dm         G                C   C7

We will think of our homecoming queen

       F     G            C

A light has muscled out the darkness

     Dm        G                C  C/A  C9/B  C/A

The smiling face of Darleen

hold on tight

I’ll never let you go

If I hold your hand, will you stay in this land

Or is this your last stand?

The courage that i need

I know I've found it in you

As I look in your face, that smiling space

I need to find it in me too

 Chorus

As you look me in the eye

I see your ready to say goodbye

I hear you silently confide

you'll never leave our side

well maybe ill never see

if the end justifies a mean

but i guess that's not up to me

your suffering has set me free

chorus

it takes love to say good bye

for the final time

Your life is not about what it’s not

Climb those stairs and show them what you’ve got!
